As you can see in the provided images, the devices do have the same design, but the 8 Pro+ has a see-though backplate. They’re made out of metal and glass, while their sides are flat. They are also flat on the front and the back, while the bezels seem to be truly thin, at least based on the provided renders.
The Red Magic 8 Pro series smartphones are here with truly powerful specs
The two phones have really similar spec sheets, though the Pro+ model does come with faster charging. Both devices are fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, Qualcomm’s most powerful chip so far. They also include the Red Magic R2 chip for better gaming effects, including sound details, colors, touch sensitivity, and haptic feedback. The company said that the phone scored 1,348,653 points on AnTuTu. It uses LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB RAM variants have been announced. 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options have also been presented.
Advanced cooling is included
Red Magic also included an ICE 11.0 magic cooling system with a built-in fan + full-through air duct. It also includes the first 3D ice-level dual-pump 2,068mm3 super large VC liquid cooling, graphene under the screen, and up to 10 layers of cooling materials. The phone does include “shoulder keys”, and we are looking at 520Hz touch sampling shoulder keys for faster response. 1115K+1216 ultra-linear stereo speakers are also included in the package.
A 120Hz OLED display is backed by 960Hz touch sampling rate
A 6.8-inch fullHD+ (2480 x 1116) OLED display is used here. It offers a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 960Hz touch sampling rate. This is a 10-bit display, and it goes up to 1,300 nits of peak brightness.
Android 13 comes pre-installed, along with Redmagic OS 6.0. There are two SIM card slots included on the inside. A 6,000mAh battery is included in the 8 Pro, with 80W charging. The 8 Pro+ model comes with a 5,000mAh battery, and 165W fast wired charging. Wireless charging is not supported on either model.
Under-display camera & fingerprint scanner are also a part of the package
You will find an audio jack on both phones, along with Dual Smart PA, and three microphones. An in-display fingerprint scanner is also included, as is a 16-megapixel under-display front-facing camera. A 50-megapixel main camera (Samsung’s GN5 sensor) is backed by an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. Bluetooth 5.3 is also included in both phones. Both devices measure 163.98 x 76.35 x 8.9mm, while they do differ in weight, a bit. The Red Magic 8 Pro weighs 228 grams, while the 8 Pro+ model weighs 230 grams.
They will likely be coming to global markets
These have been announced in China, but they’ll likely arrive to global markets in the future. The Red Magic 8 Pro’s pricing starts at CNY3,999 ($574), while the Red Magic 8 Pro+’s pricing starts at CNY5,199 ($747).
