The revelation comes via Esper.io’s Mishaal Rahman, who is a reliable source for Android deep dives. XDA points out that the Wallpaper & style settings on Android 13 Developer Preview 2 (DP2) only included four options each for wallpaper colors and basic colors.
All new colors introduced with Android 13 Beta 1 are multi-toned
Among the newly introduced options are rose, brown, yellow, green, blue, purple, lilac, etc. Moreover, all colors appear to be multi-toned, making them more pleasing to the eye. The new additions to the Pixel’s Wallpaper & style settings are minor compared to some of the other features we’ve talked about so far. Nevertheless, it’s good to know that Google wants to increase the available system colors, thus providing more options to the users. With more Android 13 betas on the way, this won’t be the last we hear of the changes. Android 13 Beta 1 brings several other features like anticipatory audio routing, new animations for media controls, and so on. Developers will also welcome the addition of improved error reporting via KeyMint. The new beta also includes a Face Unlock setting for the Pixel 6 Pro. Rumors claimed this feature would debut with the Pixel 6 Pro last year, but that didn’t happen. Shortly after the flagship’s release, we came across reports suggesting Face Unlock could make it to the flagship in the future. Reports now suggest that face unlocking could make it to the Pixel 6 Pro through an upcoming Pixel Feature Drop. In any case, it’s almost a given that the next Pixel flagship will include this common feature by default. It’s worth remembering that Android 13 Beta 1 is only available for Pixel devices. Since such releases are usually unstable, it is wise to proceed with caution. But if you have a spare Pixel lying around, there’s no harm in trying it out. Meanwhile, manufacturers like Samsung will begin their beta program in a few months.
